Prevent House Fires!

During this dry summer climate and with all of the wild fires that have been raging on throughout the nation, you will want to do everything you possibly can to make sure your house is as safe from fire as possible.

House Fire1. One of the most common causes of house fires is cooking. It's essential to give anything that's on top of your stove has your undivided attention.

2. Another common cause of fires is smoking. If you or someone in your family smokes it should be encouraged to take it outside and always make sure they are disposed of properly. Cigarettes should be doused with water before they are thrown away to make sure they are completely extinguished.

3. Electrical fires are also very common and dangerous. Check all of your electrical cords to ensure that they are in good shape, and replace any that are worn out.

4. Possibly the most important thing you may be able to do is install working smoke detectors. Some fires that damage your home can't be prevented, so the best way to protect yourself and your family is to have the proper warning systems if one does occur.
